Jerk chicken and red beans and peas soup and the jerk chicken taste just fabulous. You can definitely taste like it just came off the grill. I LOVE that grilled taste! The rice is good, as for the orange stuff I think is cabbage, that taste really goodas well and the soup was awesome. This was definitely a good find especially at 11:30 at night on a Tuesday. As for the price, $20. Not too bad but overall great spot.

Good food. Service a little slow, but solid. Jerk chicken was well seasoned and juicy, even though I skipped the jerk sauce.

The fried fish is AMAZING and so are the rice and peas!! The portion size is great and the service is very fast!

Really great Jamaican food ! The chicken curry was flavorful and fall off the bone delicious. The rice and beans it came with was very tasty as well. We got a complimentary ginger drink that tasted freshly made with juiced ginger. Very much recommend !!!

Destiny Awaits could not be a more fitting name. This is a small, no-frills, unassuming kind of place, but it deserves all the attention and the highest of accolades in my book. Now, I haven't tried a TON of Jamaican places in the Hartford area, but I would be shocked if this one didn't make the Top 10 list. Their menu is concise, offering a list of various proteins-- curried, jerk-style, and stewed. I went for the jerk chicken which came with rice and sauteed peppers. I was anxious to pop that styrofoam lid open the whole 10 minute ride back to work. The anticipation had me salivating and man did Destiny Awaits deliver! The chicken was fall-off-the-bone, generously seasoned and ever so slightly smoky. Each grain of rice glistened with the sheen of drippings likely from the slow-roasted chicken. To round it off, the side of colorful peppers added a nice touch of sweetness. My soul was thoroughly nourished and all for $7 too! Show your soul some love and head over ASAP. YOUR destiny awaits you.

This establishment has been open for almost two years and I'm surprised that I didn't see any reviews. I'm not sure if any of you have been here, but if you haven't you should add this to your "must try" list. I'm of Jamaican heritage and I really appreciate when I'm able to taste food that almost reminds me of my grandparents cooking or when I was visiting Jamaica. This review and the four stars I'm giving is SOLELY based on the jerk chicken (my opinion best in Hartford area). It's flavored well, not overpowered with jerk seasoning and has a great smokey taste. I prefer to get the chicken with the sauce on the side. Eventually I will try another item on the menu and will update my review if I need to but for now it's all about the jerk chicken!
